Newsletters
A two-page school newsletter, Tiger Tales, is published every month. Any parent that doesn't have access to a computer may get a copy of the newsletter in the Main Office. K-4 will receive a hard copy from their teachers. Some K-4 teachers also send home a class newsletter each Friday along with student work. Parents should check their child's backpack or Friday Folder for flyers and newsletters from the school.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
At parent conferences in November and April, parents are invited to discuss strengths and goals for their child's academic performance and behavior. Please plan to attend parent conferences and meet with your child's teacher when needed. Parent-teacher communication is an important key to student success. Teachers are available by phones in each room and by email.
Curriculum Handbook for Parents
All students who attend Martha's Vineyard Public Schools use the same curriculum. This curriculum was created by island educators and is based on the standards in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Telephones
All teachers are provided with a phone and voice mail in their rooms. Please keep in close communication with your child's teachers and set up meetings as needed throughout the school year. In addition, e-mail is available to all teachers and can be helpful in keeping the teacher informed of parent questions. Also, if a student is absent, please phone or e-mail Esther Teves in the Main Office as to why the student isn't at school.
Thank you for the letters and cards you have sent complimenting staff members. We share these with the teacher and file them in the personnel file.
IMPORTANT REMINDER
Parents: Please inform the nurse and the office if contact information has changed . Up-to-date information is needed in case a parent needs to be reached in an emergency. |
