All Island Instrumental Band Program

Offered to students grades 4 - 8

The nurturance of each student's innate ability is essential to the complete education of the individual. Music education develops mental discipline, aesthetic awareness and socialization skills through a progressive sequence of learning experiences.

First Year: Through weekly 30 minute group lessons, participating students receive technical and musical training specific to their instrument.

Second & Third Year: In addition to lessons, students are exposed to an ensemble experience each week.

Fourth & Fifth Year: Weekly lessons continue while adding more and varied ensemble opportunities in both concert band and jazz band repertoire.

Students are expected to reinforce skills learned in school, by establishing a consistent practice routine at home. Students are also expected to attend all rehearsals, on time.

Grade 3 - Recorder Class

3rd Grade: Students are introduced to the basics of simple note reading and performance skills through instruction on a soprano recorder. They receive a whole class lesson once a week and are expected to practice weekly skills at home. They are also expected to have their materials with them in school on their lesson day.

Music prepares children for the future by teaching the habit of excellence.
