In 7th grade math, students will:
Extend understanding of ratios and proportional relationships including percent, scale drawings, and unit rates.
Build upon understanding of fractions, decimals, and percent to fluently perform all operations with rational numbers, including negative numbers.
Write and solve expressions and equations with one variable.
Solve problems involving measurement of circles, surface area of 3D shapes, and angles formed by intersecting lines.
Compare two data distributions and address questions about differences between populations.
Begin working with random sampling and understand importance of representative samples for drawing inferences.

In 8th grade math, students will:
Know that there are numbers that are not rational, and approximate them using rational numbers.
Work with radicals and integer exponents.
Understand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations.
Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
Define, evaluate, and compare functions.
Use functions to model relationships between quantities.
Understand and solve problems involving congruence and similarity, Pythagorean Theorem, and real world mathematical problems involving volume of cylinders, cones and spheres.
Investigate patterns of association in bivariate data.
