The overall goal of the 5th & 6th Special Ed. Program is to help students transition to middle school and teach appropriate strategies that the students can apply in all their academic classes. Students who work in the resource room require remediation in individual areas. Remediation services are in many areas. Some examples are reading (fluency, decoding, comprehension), writing (expression, encoding), math, and executive functioning (organization, planning, initiating).
Students work in small groups or one on one in the Resource Room. Students receive supports from both the special education teacher and an education support professional. Students also receive in class supports in the general education setting.
